With wireless, will there be a dish on my roof?
More likely then not a wireless installation would require a device mounted on the roof of the customer’s house or business. The distance the customer’s location is from the access point determines what device will be required. If within two miles, only the wireless SM (Subscriber Module) is needed, if greater than two miles a 10" slip on dish is needed, if over six miles then a dish (18” x 24”) will be required.[top]
The Wireless SM cannot be purchased, due to the fact that it is proprietary equipment and that iLines must own the device to lawfully monitor and update the equipment as needed.[top]

What is burst speed, and how does it affect my internet performance?
Burst or burst allocation gives our customers a very fast connection when doing non-data intensive tasks like email, online shopping, and web browsing. When doing data intensive tasks like file-sharing or downloading, burst allocation keeps our customers from monopolizing the available bandwidth on our wireless towers so no one person’s internet experience suffers.
Basically you can think of your internet connection as a bucket that is constantly filling at your sustained rate [512Kbps (64KB/s) residential, 1Mbs (128KB/s) commercial]. When the bucket is full you can connect at speeds up to 7Mbps* for ~10MB of data (~20MB commercial). Once the bucket is empty you connect at no lower than your sustained rate. Once your download/upload is finished your bucket will start to fill again, and in ~1 ½ minutes you will have a full bucket.
*Burst speed varies based on link quality and available tower bandwidth and is not guaranteed.[top]
